About the GSU

The Graduate Student Union exists for your benefit to:

  • Ensure the effective representation of your interests to the university administration
  • Promote excellence in graduate education at Notre Dame
  • Improve your quality of life at Notre Dame through social, cultural, professional, and intellectual activities
  • Promote co-operation and interaction between you and faculty, undergraduates, and all other members of the university community

We welcome your suggestions as to best meet these objectives for you!

Graduate Student Union Organization
The GSU has an elected president and two vice presidents. These elected officers appoint committee chairpersons to head each GSU committee. Information about GSU committees and officers can be found here.

Additionally, each department appoints department representatives to the GSU council. Information about GSU Council and department representatives can be found here.

GSU Listserv
The Graduate Student Union sends out weekly listserv emails regarding upcoming events and opportunities specifically for graduate students. If you are not receiving these emails and would like to, contact Nathaniel Hollingsworth (gsu+erc@nd.edu). Spouses can be added to the listserv, as well. To sign-off the listserv, you can contact Nathaniel, or to sign yourself off, send an e-mail to listserv@listserv.nd.edu with the body of the message saying "SIGNOFF GSU-L" and you will be signed off automatically.

GSU Meetings
GSU meetings are usually held on the first or second Thursday of the month at 7:30pm, in the Notre Dame Room, LaFortune Student Center. All interested graduate students are invited to attend.
